Project & Development Update #3

January 17, 2022

Good afternoon, pilots. It's time for the next internal project update. This one will be shorter than the last because, as we stated in our previous update, the majority of the development work is complete! The main work ahead of us is fine-tuning everything that we can, in preparation for a steady launch.

Let's dive in. πŸ‘‡

πŸ”Έ The Yellowpaper

What it's for

The yellowpaper is a technical deep dive into how each aspect of the game functions, how the game's economy is balanced, and the rationale behind the technical choices we have made. Short of reading the contracts firsthand or learning by feel, reading the yellowpaper is the best way to fully understand how the game behaves.

Who it's for

This paper is for community members who are interested in building on top of the game, developers who are interested in learning how the internals work for this type of project, and those interested in learning more about the economic drivers of the game.

Why it's important

The purpose of this paper is to democratize all of the information on the game's internals. As a community-led project, it's extremely important that we provide good resources to those who want to build, review, and deploy the future of the game. We firmly believe that everyone deserves the right to know what's going on as they're playing the game, without having to poke around with contracts privately.

In summary

To conclude, we don't expect or encourage everyone to read the yellowpaper top to bottom. This type of information comes with a lot of density, and parsing through all of it may not be worth your time. Instead, you can learn by feel, and this paper will be here when you need it.

We've taken care to organize it into small sections so that you can immediately jump to the action where you want more depth. However, if you're interested in building The Citadel out with us, this paper is for you, and we'd love to hear from you. πŸ’–

πŸ”Ή What's next?

This project update is less focused on the development side and more on other details. Here, we'll outline the current trajectory of the project and describe what's coming over the next two weeks.

Publish the Yellowpaper DONE

The publication is scheduled for Wednesday, but we may drop some sneak peeks early. As we mentioned intro, this paper comes with a lot of depth, and a lot of density. We don't expect everyone to read the whole thing, but we can't wait to make the information openly available to the community. This has been the bulk of our work for the last week, but we think that once everyone is able to learn the details of the game, it will have been worth it.

Prepare the contracts for a proper audit <-- WE ARE HERE

We're in touch with a few companies currently and preparing for them to review our code. To ensure the validity of the audit, we're not allowed to touch our contracts after submission, so we're getting the ball rolling early in terms of communication while we apply final touches. (This is happening simultaneously with everything listed here)

Begin collecting wallet addresses for our Genesis Citizens

Once the yellowpaper is published, we'll post an announcement and start the process. Nothing has changed here, we're just excited to make it a little bit more official. Who knows? We might even offer a few extra spots to some talented pilots πŸ‘€

Begin more active Twitter marketing and community engagement

Expect to see a gradual ramp-up of twitter content, giveaways, and collaborations with larger communities, starting over the next two weeks. We've been keeping in contact with several other projects and genuine influencers who love the project, but we want to time the promotion correctly. Thankfully, that time is coming, now that development is nearing completion and we have more time to focus on this aspect of the project.

Public Contract Bug Bounty

Once we finish working with our auditors, we'll be posting the source for all contracts and hosting a public bug bounty prior to launch. Rewards will be up to $25,000 based on the severity of the vulnerability, and the entire community is encouraged to participate. If any bugs are found, a second round of bounties will be open after fixes have been applied.

Team Doxx

The team will be doxxing pre-launch! Originally, we didn't feel the need to with our governance model and project structure. However, with how other projects have gone recently, and the actions we’ve seen from anonymous founders, we feel it’s in the best interest of the community to be transparent with our identities.

Announce Mint Date

Minty fresh.

Team AMA

Once the team is doxxed and the mint date is announced, we’ll all come together and pick a date for a team AMA with the community. We’re always available in station chat, but we want to make sure everyone has the chance to have their questions answered before launch.

Launch

The game begins.
