Project & Development Update #5

February 5, 2022

Good afternoon, pilots. It's time for the next internal project update.

🔹 Audit Update

We’re proud to announce that, as of Thursday, we have officially entered code-lock with Solidity Finance! In the process of getting there, we have also made the following additions and improvements to the game:

  • Proper decentralization for the ships generated by the construction bay. They are now randomly generated and issued on chain. We’d like to extend a big thanks to Monharti for pushing us to explore this idea.
  • Outposts. Now, pilots will have the option to claim their rewards by returning to outposts, in addition to The Citadel. This allows for more interesting tradeoffs and makes the risky option more appealing. Eventually, these outposts will also serve as trade centers for nearby ships.
  • Position swap for Ouroboros, Outer-Ring, and the Abyss. The Abyss will now be the map’s central region, the Outer-Ring will be the right bottom edge, and Ouroboros will be the top right edge. In combination with the addition of outposts, this increases the number of economically viable decisions available to miners and subsequently marauders, and reduces friction towards travel. In short, this will help keep gameplay dynamic, and allow players to make more nuanced choices.
  • Instant reveals on L2. This means that pilots will be able to join the game immediately after minting, without having to wait for a centralized reveal. As a bonus, transaction fees for reveals will now be extremely cheap, and all generation will remain on chain.

🔹 Summary

Our code is in great hands, and we can’t wait to receive their initial report. In the meantime, our focuses will be:

  • Bolstering our marketing presence through increased interaction on Twitter, as well as giveaways and community collaborations.
  • Completing the game UI. Everything is on track at the moment, and we’re excited to drop some reveals soon.
  • Refreshing the game art. We want our art to be as good as our code, and so we’ve been refining the art direction of our genesis ships. We’ve already shown a couple of teasers in chat, and we’ll reveal a few more in the coming days.
